The Cartiers: The Untold Story

This webinar is about the story of the three Cartier brothers, the third generation of Cartiers to run the family firm in the early 20th century. They were exceptionally close, with an almost fairytale mix of talents, and they shared a dream to turn their grandfather's humble Parisian business into the leading jewellery firm in the world. There was Louis, the visionary designer who ingeniously used platinum to create delicate diamond jewels fit for royalty, and was inspired by war machines to come up with a watch that remains iconic a century later. There was Pierre, the master dealmaker who bought the New York headquarters on Fifth Avenue for a double-stranded natural pearl necklace; and finally, there was Jacques (my great-grandfather), the globe-trotting gemstone expert whose Indian travels gave Cartier access to the world’s best rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, inspiring the celebrated Tutti Frutti jewelry.
