A Weekend Game: Cartier and Fabergé

A weekend game. Both made over a century ago, one of these owls is Cartier, the other Fabergé. Two master jewellers who were battling it out for the best clients on the planet. Their sought after turn-of-the-century hardstone animals often hard to definitively categorise…esp to the untrained eye (sometimes even to the trained eye!) Not all were signed. There are many examples of similar animals like this (swipe across to see a couple more, including a pair of kangaroos no less). Can you tell which one is Cartier and which is Fabergé on each slide? Feel free to guess the answer in the comments below...

To discover more about the intense rivalry between #TheFaberges and #TheCartiers in early 20th century London.. join me next Tuesday when I’ll be diving into the dramatic history with Kieran McCarthy, curator of #FabergeLondon : #RomanceToRevolution at the @vamuseum. The on-site event is sold out but the talk will also be live-streamed (see my bio link).
